When Adam and I conducted our radio show our topic was on Teachers and Principals. We interviewed Mr. Jerrod Compton, the senior Junior Achievement manager. When we began conversing with him, he informed us of the work he did in the Peace Corp. He went on to describe how he taught children in Haiti and had to learn some of their language in order to communicate with the students.

Mr. Compton is now pursuing a teaching degree at Mercer University, and aspires to teach middle school students. When asked why he would desire to teach at what’s considered the hardest age group to teach; he responded by saying the he wanted to not only teach the students, but mentor them. He believes that he will make more progress since students are very impressionable in that age range. By utilizing all that he has learned by working with students in Junior Achievement, he plans to leave a mark on students live in the near future.

October 6, 2011: Interview With Wayne Ellison, Owner – Ellison Insurance Agency

`Wayne D. Ellison is an agent/broker for his agency, Ellison Insurance Agency. He works within the community in programs such as JA Fellows and 100 Black Men of Metro Atlanta. Mr. Ellison is an entrepreneur who has both succeeded in helping people through his business and giving back to the community despite his tight schedule.

After meeting Mr. Ellison, Gewel Richardson, my co-host, and I, were able to interview him about his business and how he became a successful entrepreneur. Some of the points that he stressed during our interview were education, community service, risk-taking, and the ideas and principles being being an entrepreneur of a successful business. College and high school, said Mr. Ellison, are probably the most important parts of the a person’s academic life or life in general. Once someone does well in high school and enters a great college, that person will have a better future than the other person that does not care about college and who does not want to go to school. Community service is important, because giving back to the community is important. There will always be someone in need. Finally risk-taking and becoming an entrepreneur go hand in hand. Many people in life have missed out on opportunities because they did not want to take the risk. Others on the other hand, have taken risks, and have become successful. When taking risks, decision-making is key, because one wrong move can move your life into a completely different direction, of which could be the right or wrong turn.

So, to summarize, take risks, make sure you get a great education by going to college, become an entrepreneur by trying to solve a problem, and listen to others and yourself about what you love and what you would do for free.

Did you hear about that on the news? No, but I read about it! Emil Dmello gives an insider look into the Media Industry and their print and television components. Ms. Lesley Taylor, producer and host of Broadcast Atlanta, and Ms. Johanne Fisher, editor of Joy Entertainment and freelance writer for Georgia and Florida Publications, portray the real-life of the media industry.

Media encompasses many different dynamics. One includes the print industry, where newspapers and opinion editorials thrive on sentence structure and in-depth analysis in the tradition sense. Top print giants such as Newsweek, TIME Magazine, and The New York Times make up the major proportion of the print industry. Ms. Johanne Fisher details the ramifications and qualifications to make it in the real world of words.

Another facet that intrigues the new technological era of Media is Television! Ms. Lesley Taylor gives an up-close and personal look into her job and the fun aspects of being a producer and host for an industry that incorporates networks from Fox News to CNN, MSNBC to ABC News. My question to Ms. Taylor is not what media can do for her, but what she can do for the media industry!
